I saw Sex Drive at a sneak preview. It’s a seemingly typical teen sex comedy in the vein of Superbad meets Road Straggle. Zuckerman plays Ian, a young virgin with no luck with the ladies, a crush on his childhood friend Felicia (Crew), a jerk of an older brother (Marsden), and is best friends with an Austin Powers-esquire Casanova by the name of Lance (Duke) . On the internet, he poses as a football player while courting a mysterious girl online. When the girl invites him to go “all the blueprint”, he steals his brother’s GTO and heads to Knoxville with Felicia and Lance. Ian’s character has the usual nerdy teen virgin-in-a-movie problems: falls for the horrible girls, takes few risks, gets caught in embarrassing sexual situations. On the road amble, they rush into a series of hilarious, awkward, and exclusive situations. And on the device, they inspect that sex isn’t the most principal thing, and that correct esteem can be found in both weird and familiar places.

It’s not exactly stunningly new, but it’s unruffled a hilarious film. The three leads do a handsome ample job, Lance being a particularly silly character. Marsden and Green choose the demonstrate in all the scenes they’re in, and all of the characters in the film are enthralling, even if most of them are stock characters. The script is also well-connected, with most of the characters being connected to the larger spot, and combines wit, ribaldry, and straight adult humor well. Every gag sequence gets expansive laughs, and the comedy never slows down or dies out. The internet cutaways are especially hilarious supplements.

It’s refreshing to glance a genuinely adult comedy not coming from the Apatow crew or McKay and Ferrell. Although it lacks star leads and filmmakers and will probably descend under the radar, I definitely recommend Sex Drive to anyone looking for a huge laughs.

Plenty to read about regarding this film out in the Internet world. The trailers have been playing in the store for a month now and the buzz has been distinct (since no one got to sight this in theaters) . Analyzing a high budget teen/sex comedy for acting is pointless, so I will stick with the BD quality and extras.

The video and audio eye and sound delicate, typically the outer channels derive veteran with the Big volume of songs played throughout; and some nice GTO throttlings. The special features have roughly 30 minutes of docus reviewing production and self loathing/lampooning of the cast: Marsden Problem & Duke of the Internet clips.

The mountainous question: differences between the UR and R. Plenty to list. 20 extra minutes of gratuitous male and female nudity, longer takes of clear scenes (the two confident geeks verbiage, pool party, condom buying fiasco, left-in flubs, changed phrases, sex sounds [sheep, bjs, etc.]), most noticeably – CGI-imposed nudity in 20 or so random scenes with a graphic intro by the director/writer about what to quiz in the UR version.

Overall, a droll film with plenty of comedian cameos, decent writing, esteem searching, and sexual awakenings (even in the Amish country) . A worthwhile retract for fans of the film plus they kept it all one on disc (everything is the same as the 2 disc DVD) .

As other reviewers have well-known, the film is presented in the despicable widescreen ratio, which will impact you if you bear a widescreen television or 16:9 show. Mild, we’re lucky to have this movie on DVD in the first location.

The Combat Classics 50 Movie Pack consists of war films primarily region during World War II that have fallen into public domain. As fans of the Mill Creek Entertainment products have reach to query, the quality of the transfers in this boxed place range from pretty to advantageous, but the entertainment value of these movies is better than usual. There are no documentaries included in this place and only a handful of foreign films shot using a figurehead American star TV movies are incorporated. I’d have given tubby marks, except for one essential caveat – 25 of the 50 films listed can be found in other Mill Creek 50 Movie Packs: 17 were included in “War Classics”, 5 in “Action Classics”, 2 in Historical Classics and 1 each from “All-Time Classics” and “Hollywood Legends”. In fact, the mediocre `Yellowneck’ has been now been included in three different 50 Movie Pack collections. Since the recently released “TV Favorites” 150 episode pack includes 100 episodes previously included in other sets, this is a disturbing trend.

As an avid WWII movie buff, I found most of this collection features older movies (30 from 1940 – 1959) with another 10 from the 60’s and half a dozen from the 70’s. There were even two from 1934 and 1936. Most of them are worthwhile with a few ‘duds’ thrown in to obtain the magical number of 50. For instance, I don’t mediate many of us would ask Mexico and Pauncho Villa to be included in a ‘Combat Classic’ Collection. Realizing the cost and hours of entertainment to be realized, it was delectable for the most fraction. Don’t quiz all of them to be top knotch movies but if you bask in older movies then you’ll catch this collection worthwhile.

This is a wonderfully sentimental depiction of public school life in the Victorian and Edwardian eras and beyond. Chipping, like so many other schoolmasters of the time, lives a cloistered life on which the outer world only occasionally impinges — mostly during wartime.

In the film, he ventures out on only one other memorable occasion — a holiday with the school German teacher to the Tyrol where he meets the fine Greer Garson (in her first movie appearance), who somewhat improbably falls for him. This sets off a chain of sentimental events: marriage, introductions to the approved room, tea with the boys, her death through childbirth, and a never-ending cycle of Colleys (played by the same actor, but with a slightly different haircut for each generation) . The school hymn is also designed to pluck the heart stings.

The movie was actually filmed at Repton. I went to a similarly confined, all-boys, English public school, state in a country town miles from anywhere else, though somewhat more recently than the Chips era. Many of the masters never married because it was so difficult for them to meet any women. We unexcited had corporal punishment — which Chips continues to inflict even when brought out of retirement to become head during World War One. This film does not contemplate the grubby reality of public school life — the author must have had his rose-tinted spectacles on when he wrote this — but it’s hard not to be moved by it.

I have special memories of first seeing this at the age of 12 in our headmaster’s examine, together with all the other senior boys at the prep school. Today, its meaning for me is more about staying in the same residence for a long time, while all about you moves on. (I’ve recently completed 25 years with the same employer!) I also enjoyed trying to work out how many of the Tyrol scenes were shot in the studio. (At one stage, Chips and his friend even streak against a film background.)

The DVD has no special extras, but the recount and sound quality is reasonable. I haven’t tried the film on my teenage children, but I judge this is one of the few sunless and white movies that they would be absorbed by. (Don’t be misled by the colour photo on the DVD box shroud into believing the movie is in colour!)

There aren’t many cases where the movie is better than the book, but “Goodbye Mr. Chips” is one of them. James Hilton tossed together his barely over 100 pages of astronomical type in about a week. The scriptwriters for the film fleshed out a great memoir line with great more detail. Well-directed and honest superbly acted by Robert Donat in the title role, this film is an endearing classic.

The basic account is that of a worn English schoolmaster, space in a period from mid-Victorian to pre-WWII. It’s a gentle narrative of the meaning of a man’s life and how we can rise to excellence in our modest professions and touch the lives of many. Mr. Chipping (”Chips” as his students affectionately know him) leads a rich life, although also fraught with sorrows.

There is serene considerable relevance to the film–the tragedy of war, the importance of a balanced education, and the evils of caste.

Yes, the film is sentimental and a tiny manipulative, but you will probably not mind. In fact, you may bawl your eyes out.

Compared to R.F. Delderfield’s “To Encourage Them All My Days,” the book of “Chips” is not nearly as qualified, but this film tops the BBC mini-series of “Days” in virtually every way–especially in managing to leave out a lot of class warfare!

Order it, go purchase a box of Puffs, and plonk yourself down for a scrumptious classic!

I impartial want to be as positive as humanly possible. This is NOT a capable movie by any standards. The actings bad, the script is abominable, the costumes are goofy looking, the accumulate and music are low-rent. The whole film’s production value was somewhere around an above-average ‘Power Rangers’ episode.

Having said all of that, this is a rare instance where the film not only accepts its cheesyness but seems to embrace it. I was actually suprised the production team didn’t try and gather a PG rating. It would have made a superior post-Saturday morning cartoon movie.

If you were looking for a splendid ‘B’ movie to entertain yourself with, this fits the bill. Any movie with Jimmy “Dyn-No-Mite” Walker in it is always going to be intelligent on SOME level.

My 1st review so spelling errors aside support with it.

Seeing some of the other reviews I conception I’d do in my useless words as well.

I’ve always been a fan of the Guyver anime, it was the first anime I’ve ever picked up (Seeing how he sort of had a Spider-man watch to him when I was younger, I instantly picked it up) So of course I have to try out the movies no matter, to peer if they could’ve made the Guyver cooler in the spacious conceal than he was in a anime. This was probaly years ago but now when I examine befriend at them. It adds to my collection.

I didn’t mind the movie, its aged, those worn movies tend to be corny as time goes on. I sadly made the mistake of watching Guyver 2 on the SciFi channel years ago before I watched the 1st movie so I held my standards higher support then. I can imagine more and more movies will approach along and blow our “Movie of this year” yadda yadda. What I’m trying to say is exquisite soon the Matrix or Star Wars will be looked support at and criticized impartial as distinguished, as this flick.

Overall opinion:

Acting was … decent they could’ve chosen a better cast of actors

Special Effects were decent

Costumes were decent (reminded me of a violent power rangers support then so I instantly loved it)

The movie was a attempt to bring Guyver to the colossal hide, I really wish Guyver 2: Sunless Hero was what they did. They could’ve easily have made that into the first Guyver movie. I serene gladly have both in my collection, and recognize them time to time. Maybe they’ll re-make this one

like they’ve done with other movies seeing how we can’t form anything unique anymore.

The second movie blows this one away, and it didn’t require them to grab any enormous names to rep them some Sign Hamill fans.

The one impress about Spike Lee films is that you’re never obvious what you’re going to accept. I’m not really a fan, I accept that his films are too convoluted with extraneous detail and somewhat over produced. Inside Man retains all the elements of a solid bank robbery/caper film, whilst also giving us Spike Lee’s trademark of gritty, street-wise irreverence.

The pickle with Inside Man is that it’s impossibly extraordinary with a state that strains the realms of credibility; combine this with it’s over-long running time and you have a film that features some gigantic performances by it’s cast – Denzel Washington, Clive Owen, Christopher Plummer and Jodie Foster – but ultimately sags a bit in the middle and ends up becoming rather ponderous.

Lee manages to pull off a handful of effective scenes, but he doesn’t have the flair to bring the whole movie off with true conviction. An enigmatic master criminal (Owen) – who spends most of the movie wearing a shroud – plans and executes a “genius understanding” in which he and several masked companions consume over a Lower Manhattan bank and brutally grasp several dozen of its customers as hostages.

The NYPD negotiator given the task of dealing with these crooks is an affable junior detective, Detective Keith Frazier (Washington) – under a cloud of suspicion from a previous case – he soon surmises that the perpetrators don’t actually want the bank’s money. Enter smarmy and exquisite Current York political insider Madeline White (Foster) who knows everybody and even has the ear of the Mayor.

Madeline is hired by the chairman of the bank’s board of directors (Plummer) to oversee the crisis and form determined that definite secrets he has in his safe-deposit box stop secret. The bulk of the film involves the standoff between the bank robbers and the NYPD as they try frantically to ensure that the hostages remain well-behaved.

Of course we know the hostages survive because Lee inserts interview footage of them after the heist is over, this diagram, however, tips off the outcome, dissipates suspense and hasty becomes slow. This is unbiased one of the many techniques Lee uses to clutter the movie’s structure and prevent the space from unfolding as hasty as it should.

Obviously, everyone has something to conceal, particularly the bank president, but when his past is revealed, it finally appears with a bit of a thud, with the movie going through to noteworthy trouble to come at very petite. In all fairness, Inside Man has some arresting things to say about hurry, money, power and the ethics of urban living, particularly in Modern York and the performances are wonderfully cynical and gritty.

Washington is sexy and strong, Foster is skillfully odious as the frosty, sophisticated and amoral Madeline who cares for nothing but chasing colossal bucks, Owen is morbidly compelling as the distinct heavy and Plummer is letter-perfect as the guilt-ridden bank honcho.

Lee, however, unbiased doesn’t seem able to bring all the disparate elements of a heist film into a convincing and gratifying whole and in the end; the movie is vaguely unsatisfying and impossibly far-fetched. Mike Leonard August 06.

Everything about INSIDE MAN makes the viewer want to admire this film: Spike Lee as director, a fair cast, a obedient musical come by that sounds a bit like Bollywood music, a theme that invites social comment.

For this viewer the terrific ingredients do not add up to a new suspense thriller of a film. The epic is a variation of hundreds of other films (writer Russell Gewirtz somehow got away with unbiased an outline of a script of holes) and the technique of telling the record – interspersing post incident interviews with the people keen in the caper – makes it thud along.

Denzel Washington is his usual shapely acting self, playing a cop with his enjoy demons. Chiwetel Ejiofor is solid as his partner. Clive Owen spends the better allotment of the film gradual a conceal but continues his reputation for serene and distinguished characterizations as the bank robber. Christopher Plummer is convincing as the aid president with secrets to veil, which Jodie Foster as a middle-woman manages to manipulate. Willem Defoe is ravishing as the cop in charge. They all earn well in roles they could do in their sleep.

Clocking in at over two hours the film seems to scuttle over some inconsequential details in an attempt to hide the holes in the script. Spike Lee makes it work because of his style. But in the extinguish the anecdote isn’t absorbing enough to enjoy our attention (’been there, done that’) and this viewer, for one, fell asleep during portions when the film slowed for unknown reasons. Well we already know eddie 1 & 2 are underated by the critics and we treasure these two movies. That being said, we waited for this american release for a long time and it is disappointing, the audio (others dont agree) but sounds ample on my system . The video is consuming & intelligent on both. however the 2 movies are on a single flipper disc and no insert inside of any kind. (hence the coarse note) but the most dissappointing thing is played side by side with the canadian release of eddie lives 2, its apparant you dont gather to observe more of the narrate, the widescreen cloak version actually shows less on top & bottom and the sides are same, so in my opion this was a cheap release and not what the eddie fans have been waiting for :(

The Film Eddie and the Cruisers was a throw aid to bands of the fifties. It was the sage of a band, however there was also a mystery regarding Eddie disappearance. It was a tiny film that ran in theaters and vanished without a price. It was an art house film that was done well, but when it was released in the movie theaters got NO audience

The reason this film got a sequel was due to pay cable. This movie built up a cult following when in was on cable movie TV (HBO,SHOWTIME,etc) . Most wanted the answers the first film left unresolved questions. You must understand, this is before cable had shows like Dexter, Six feet Under, The Tutors and others (including a MOB explain which is NOT my accepted)

The sequel which was not as splendid as the first (there are never many where the sequel is better than the new) . However it did rap up the storylines left unfinished by the first film

These two films are a cult classic. The talented Micheal Pare stars in both films as Eddie Wilson. He showcases the mind of a man who loves the music…its sounds, its feeling. He is brash in the film film. By the sequel, he is wiser, smarter and older. The second he is frightened by the demons of the past

If you are seeking big filmmaking, dont rep this. BUT if you glance a myth which will interest you, this double feature is a positive bet for an evening entertainment. and that in my book is worth five stars

I already have both films but purchased this as the case described “Dirty Dozen” as being a 16×9 transfer. It is not. Further, special features are listed for this film that are not actually on the disc. I knew I was in anguish when the film began with the Turner logo. Frail transfer. “Kelly’s Heroes” IS 16×9 as it was on the single feature release.

In addition, it appears the newly repackaged “How the West Was Won” suffers from the same false packaging by being labeled “enhanced for widescreen TVs” when it is not and is also an customary Turner master.

People are sprint to complain so it’s hard to fill Warner Home Video, previously very pleasurable, would do this intentionally. Something is defintely sinful in their QC department these days.

These are both Well-behaved movies. However, for some reason (mere incompetence, I’d bet) the dvd’s packaging states that The Dirty Dozen is presented in 16×9 (anamorphic) format and also includes audio commentary by cast and crew. This is NOT TRUE–neither of these features exist on the disc. If you’re thinking of buying this as an upgrade from your standard single-disc version of Dirty Dozen, don’t bother. The DD side of this flipper disc is the same as the budget single-disc, non-anamorphic version that’s been available for years.

What could be better than singing by Howard Keel and Jane Powell? The music is stout, the colors lustrous and radiant, the choreography unbelievable.

To our unusual eyes, the epic of this 1954 musical seems a exiguous outdated–the attitudes towards women are somewhat distasteful. Howard Keel’s character, Adam, needs someone to smart and cook for his household of 6 wild brothers, so he unbiased goes into town and “acquires” a wife, awful Millie (Jane Powell) who has no opinion what is in store for her.

Even in this very early outing, Julie Newmar’s distinctive reveal and looks construct her stand out.

The director, Stanley Donen, directed some of the best musicals in the 50s, including Damn Yankees, Singing in the Rain, Kismet (uncredited), and Royal Wedding. Inexplicably, in his later career, he directed such bombs as Saturn 3 (1980) .

A “sleeper” when it was released in 1954, “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” is mild one of the freshest musicals ever made. With a blooming, spellbinding find by Gene de Paul and Johnny Mercer and rambunctious but carefully-controlled choreography by Michael Kidd, this modestly-budgeted movie surprised everyone by becoming an mammoth hit, even being nominated for Best Relate. Although “The Adventures of Ford Fairlane” is the best film released in the 90’s, it has not received the well-known acclaim it so justly deserves. The well-written screenplay, tailor-made for Andrew Dice Clay, is a admire yarn about a private investigator and his secretary. In a sterling performance, Clay has restrained his usual humor to create a realistic film about the anxiety of being a Rock and Roll detective. He had reasons for leaving the police force, which results in harsh treatment from Lt. Amos, convincingly played by Ed O’Neill. Wayne Newton, as the cross Julian Grendel almost steals the prove from the rest of the cast.

I remember the early days of Don Rickles, the master of insult humor. His career was saved when his Las Vegas crowd rallied to let the public know that he was really a nice guy. Unfortunately, the Dice-Man didn’t have that befriend, and his 80’s update of Rickles-type humor was blown out of proportion by a misguided, politically-correct public that wouldn’t know a comical joke if it was strapped to their privates. Dice IS comic, and he IS a nice guy. His humor is probably a “GUY” thing, but he talks no differently than anyone I’ve known who lived in a college dorm. Okay. Enough about the misunderstood Dice. “The Adventures of Ford Fairlane”, an early anguish from Renny Harlin, is always silly and always captivating. The screenplay is clever, a grunt parody of stupid detective films, with many current ideas, tailor-made to the many talents of Andrew Dice Clay. Dice is quite charming, always self-effacing and having a gigantic time. The assembled cast is huge, with Gilbert Gottfried in a natural role, a sparkling substandard performance from Wayne Newton, as well as Robert Englund (in a non-Freddy role, but unexcited inappropriate) . Lauren Holly is a stabilizing factor, and Priscilla Presley (remember the “Naked Gun” films? ) is as straight as ever. Really savory is Maddie Corman (the runt sister from “Some Kind of Astounding”) as Zuzu Petals (I’ve not been able to sight “It’s a Improbable Life” without thinking of Maddie…) Ed O’Neill’s rendition of “Booty Time” may stick with you.Andrew Dice Clay’s humor may not appeal to all, but this is a fun film and the Dice-Man is quite endearing. Don’t assume…Be Pleased!
